Ottawa Art Gallery — Concept by Cara Tierney
In April 2024, I joined the team for A Fine Discipline, a critical reflection on structural inequity and art historical scholarship, presented as a live performance at the Ottawa Art Gallery. I was invited to be both part of the action and its documentarian, moving between the audience and performers. This dual role shaped my approach: photographing from within rather than outside, attentive to the subtle negotiations of proximity and presence. Documenting a live performance is always a challenge, and here I sought to emphasize the sense of movement and motion that animated the work. The result is a series of images that echo the performance’s shifting dynamics and layered critique. More about the project can be found on Cara Tierney’s website.
